Police believe a medical episode is the root cause of a crash that occurred in Edmonton’s west end this morning.
At approximately 6 a.m., near 168 Street and 114 Avenue, a van was heading south when a man driving the van veered off the road. The van then struck a chain link fence and hit a parked cement truck according to police.
According to an EPS spokesperson the man was revived with life-saving measures on scene before being rushed to hospital by paramedics with serious life-threatening injuries.
The crash caused major delays during Monday mornings rush hour. The intersection was closed for a few hours this morning as a result of the investigation.
The intersection has since been opened to traffic.
