Alberta Mounties are investigating two separate and unrelated homicides on Saddle Lake Cree Nation Saturday.
At 2:39 a.m., St. Paul RCMP received a report of a shooting at a home on Saddle Lake Cree Nation.
Upon arrival, police said they discovered the body of a man outside the home.
After an investigation, police also located two other people suffering injuries. They were taken to hospital in stable condition. Police did not provide any details on the two injured. Police said all three people are believed to be part of the same “targeted incident” and that there’s no further risk to the public.
No arrests have been made, but police say they believe there were witnesses to the shooting and are asking people to come forward. The Alberta RCMP major crimes unit has taken over the investigation.
Meanwhile, at 2:52 a.m., police said they received a report about a stabbing at a home on Saddle Lake Cree Nation. Upon arrival, police found the body of a man outside the home. Police identified the victim as 23-year-old Saddle Lake resident Ralph Francis Large. Police said they arrested a suspect at the scene.
