A new support program is available for anyone who is dealing with missing people. Aboriginal Alert is a Canada wide service with one goal in mind, helping to do more for those who have gone missing and who have yet to come home.
Aboriginal Alert uses the internet to assist those whose loved ones are missing. With this program, people can work together to help each other out by reaching out to our contacts and in turn seek for our missing loved ones.
Dan Martel is the founder of Aboriginal Alert and says they travel to different Indigenous events hoping to find more “Community Champions”.
In 2022, there were about 77 new missing alerts added each month across Canada, October saw the most missing alerts with a alarming 105 missing people.
Martel says events like “Red Dress Day” and the “Moose Hide Campaign” provide a great source of information and a way to get the word out about Aboriginal Alert.
