Edmonton’s Food Bank is calling on Edmontonians to support the community during its annual food drive on Saturday, September 19. The event will encourage residents to donate non-perishable food items and help support people facing food insecurity.
Tamisan Benzc-Knight, Director of Resource Development and Communications at Edmonton’s Food Bank, tells CFWE that 6,000 volunteers will go door-to-door across the city, collecting donations from more than 200,000 homes.
Benzc-Knight highlights the pantry items that are non-perishable and baby formula are essential for collecting during the food drive, adding encouragement to parents to ask their children what type of cereal their kids would want to share with others that they would enjoy.
The goal to raise for this years food drive is 100,000 kilograms of food, with Benzc-Knight adding that every little bit helps.
