The Town of Ponoka has confirmed it will be bringing back its Summer Concert Series after a successful inaugural year. Launching this summer, the free weekly events featured Tuesday night musical performances at Lions Centennial Park and ran from early July to September.
“The event provided a relaxed atmosphere for residents of all ages to come together and enjoy an evening in the community,” said Andrew Jones, Manager of Parks, Recreation, and Facilities for the town.
Jones noted that attendance grew throughout the summer, showcasing the community’s desire for more outdoor entertainment and social opportunities. The first evening featured live music by singer and guitarist Steve Arsenault and welcomed just under 100 attendees. Attendance continued to increase as the series progressed. The highlight of the summer was the Dueling Pianos event, which attracted over 300 residents.
“A key component of the series was the opportunity to partner with local organizations and community groups to enhance the experience for residents,” Jones added.
Other performances throughout the summer included artists such as Justin Sutton, Mark Cruz, Jasmyn Wright, and many others.
The town aims to build on the success of the inaugural year when they bring back the Summer Concert Series in 2027. They are currently considering changes, including possibly moving the program from Tuesday evenings to Monday evenings.
