The Lloydminster Men’s Shelter is gearing up to host their 3rd annual Running for Shelter run on September 27 at Bud Miller All Seasons Park. The event aims to bring together runners, walkers, families, businesses, and community members while raising awareness and funds to support individuals experiencing homelessness. Participants can choose to run or walk a 5K course, join a fundraising team, or collect pledges from friends, family, and coworkers.
The funds raised will help the Lloydminster Men’s Shelter expand its services and develop transitional housing opportunities. The goal is to assist individuals in transitioning from emergency shelters to stable housing and greater independence. This year’s fundraising goal is set at $50,000.
“Running for Shelter is about forward movement,” said Michael Davidson, Board Chair and President of the Lloydminster Men’s Shelter.
“It’s about helping people move from crisis to stability, but it’s also about our community moving forward together. We want people to come out, have a good time, learn more about the work being done, and be part of something that can make a real difference here at home.”
The event will also include a full afternoon of activities following the run, such as a barbecue, live music, local vendors, sponsor booths, children’s activities, wellness experiences, and other family-friendly entertainment.
