An RCMP officer has been charged following a 2025 incident in northern Alberta.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) examined the deployment of a less-lethal baton launcher by an officer who responded to a report of a man armed with a large knife in Atikameg on September 10, 2025.
After reviewing the involved officers’ reports and statements, ASIRT decided to lay charges.
Constable Tyler Bell was taken into custody on Thursday and faces counts of assault with a weapon and breach of trust.
He was released on an undertaking and is due to appear in Slave Lake court on October 14.
