A Fort McMurray man faces a sexual assault charge stemming from an incident involving a food delivery earlier this year.
Wood Buffalo RCMP received a report on May 16 alleging that someone was sexually assaulted inside their residence after answering the door for a food delivery. The driver involved was not immediately identified.
Investigators later identified a suspect using witness accounts and security footage.
On Saturday, a 34-year-old local resident was arrested and charged with sexual assault. He has since been released under conditions and is due to appear in court on September 23.
“We recognize incidents of this nature can be concerning for members of the community,” Staff Sgt. Sabrina Clayton said in a news release. “While this appears to be an isolated incident, we encourage residents to remain aware of their personal safety and to report any suspicious or concerning behaviour.”
