Residents of Drayton Valley are invited to celebrate the official opening of the Northern Lakes College Mobile Training Lab on September 11 at 1 p.m. in the Public Works parking lot on 50 Avenue.
The Mobile Training Lab has approximately 1,500 square feet of hands-on learning space. It includes eight training workstations, along with tools and equipment for skilled trades training. This lab also offers dual credit opportunities for high school students, allowing them to explore careers in the skilled trades while earning both high school and post-secondary credits.
In September, Northern Lakes College will launch a pre-employment carpentry program through the lab, followed by an electrical program in the winter 2027 semester. This initiative marks an important step toward expanding access to skilled trades education in Drayton Valley and the surrounding areas.
