Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation is set to host its annual Treaty Days Celebration on August 19-20, 2026. The two-day event will honour Treaty relations and bring community members together in celebration, and culture.
Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation Chief Sheldon Sunshine spoke with CFWE on the upcoming Treaty Days as a chance for new and returning attendees to reconnect with culture and their community in celebration of treaty.
Chief Sunshine says that as they prepare, they look forward to people returning and reconnecting with the community and culture, while also having a great time at the two-day celebration of Treaty Days.
For Treaty Days in Sturgeon Lake, Chief Sunshine highlights the importance for the youth coming to the event, following a weekend culture camp in Grande Prairie as a way to continue their involvement with community in the nation through cultural activities, workshops and fun at Treaty Days.
