Lac La Biche RCMP investigating firearm-related threat received by email

On July 2, 2026, just before midnight, Lac La Biche RCMP were informed that multiple employees received an email from someone threatening violence against Lac La Biche residents. Lac La Biche RCMP began an investigation and checked on the wellbeing of residents mentioned in the email. Furthermore, it was discovered that the sender was from Ontario and Waterloo Regional police is now assisting with the investigation.

 

 

Though the investigation is ongoing, Lac La Biche RCMP do not believe there is an imminent threat of violence to the community in relation to this email. Should anyone need anyone to talk to, you can contact your local victim services.

CFWE spoke with Media Relations RCMP Constable Matthew Howell, as he states “If you or anyone you know receives a text, call or email in a threating nature, you are to report it to your local authorities immediately.”
