Whitefish Lake First Nation announced that they have advised community members that Pakan School is currently under lockdown & evacuation following a reported bomb threat.
Emergency response personnel, including law enforcement and other first responders have been dispatched to the situation. As a precautionary measure, students will be safely transported to the multiplex where parents and guardians can pick up their children. School staff and emergency personnel will continue to coordinate safety for all students.
Whitefish Lake First Nation is asking all community members to remain calm, vigilant, and avoid the school area so emergency responders can carry out their duties.
St Paul RCMP states that following a full sweep of the school, they found nothing suspicious.
St. Paul RCMP Staff Sgt. Dave Graham states; “We determined that we believe it was a hoax, The security procedures in place at the school were pretty helpful in helping us make that determination based on what the person said and what the reality was. The staff at the school were incredibly helpful in ensuring the safety of the kids and liaising with us to respond to it.”
St Paul RCMP have stated that no arrests have been made, with an investigation is still ongoing at this time.
