Families in Sherwood Park will benefit from a modern, fully accessible replacement school starting in the fall.
The $53-million Forest Grove School will provide space for more than 1,000 students and was completed more than a month ahead of schedule.
The three-story facility incorporates leading-edge design features, including five learning communities, built around open-concept common areas that provide bright, collaborative environments for students in a modern school design.
“Investments in school infrastructure strengthen Alberta’s communities. This replacement school reflects our commitment to building world-class learning environments that support both academic success and student well-being,” said Martin Long, Minister of Infrastructure.
Over the coming months, Elk Island Public Schools will complete the final work that will bring the building to life, including preparing classrooms, shared spaces and specialized learning areas.
It is the final step in the journey from construction site to learning environment and will ensure the school is fully ready to welcome students, staff and families.
“Forest Grove School will become an important part of the Sherwood Park community, providing students with leading-edge learning spaces for generations to come. Having the school available a month ahead of schedule gives EIPS additional time to ensure it is properly equipped and ready for August 31,” said Colleen Holowaychuk, chair, Elk Island Public Schools.
Beginning in September, Forest Grove School will offer Kindergarten to Grade 6 (French immersion) and Grades 7 to 9 (English and French immersion).
