Local sports charity Sport Central has partnered with Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) team Edmonton Stingers to help kids enjoy the game of basketball.
“We certainly see a lot of demand for basketball shoes and basketballs here at Sports Central.” Karst Bakker Sport Central Logistics Supervisor
This is a new program created by the Edmonton Stingers called Fresh Kicks, Stingers CEO Reed Clarke stated in a press release “We’re hoping to make basketball more accessible for kids, and proper equipment is the first step in getting kids playing the sport.”. Fresh Kicks is part of a larger inactive from the Stingers who also have a program called Fresh Swish, where the Stingers replace basketball netting around the city of Edmonton.
The program launched with a donation from Edmonton Company KV Capital to purchase at-cost basketball shoes and official CEBL replica basketballs. All will be given to those who ask for them.

Logistics Supervisor for Sports Central Karst Bakker said in a press release “We certainly see a lot of demand for basketball shoes and basketballs here at Sports Central. Unfortunately, it’s not something that is donated very often, so unfortunately many of the shoes we do get are either too big or too worn out.”
