The Red Deer Native Friendship Society is inviting youth aged 14 to 24 to take part in its ‘Youth on the Land’ program, offering hands-on cultural learning rooted in traditional teachings. Participants will explore ceremony, storytelling, and medicine harvesting while engaging in activities like sweats, field trips, and mentorship – strengthening connections to culture, community, and the land.
Thomas Martell, youth mentor with the Red Deer Native Friendship Society, tells CFWE the program helps youth overcome fear and anxiety while building confidence and self-worth through cultural, land-based learning.

Martell highlights opportunities like field trips and land-based teachings, hoping they inspire pride and a strong sense of community belonging.
