It was announced by the Government of Canada and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo will receive $3,106,402.00 for local non-profit organizations benefitting the 2026-2027 homelessness program.
Funding will support essential services aiming to provide housing support, outreach services to high risk individuals, and to reduce homelessness in the area.
Here are the non-profits that will receive funding:
- Centre of Hope Society of Fort McMurray aiding the housing with supports program with $722,642.00
- Centre of Hope Society of Fort McMurray aiding the street outreach program with $176,336.00
- Centre of Hope Society of Fort McMurray aiding the drop-in program with $275,000.00
- The Governing Council of the Salvation Army in Canada aiding the housing with supports $184,672.00
- Wood Buffalo Wellness Society aiding the Tawaw Permanent Supportive Housing program with $1,585,650.00
- Wood Buffalo Wellness Society aiding Housing with supports program with $146,042.00
- Wood Buffalo Wellness Society aiding the Centralized Intake services program with $16,000.00
