Leduc RCMP are investigating after a car pulled up to another on the QE2 and a driver was fatally shot.
Around 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, RCMP say a white or grey pickup truck was seen pulling up beside a black 2012 Honda Civic on the highway near Township Road 490.
Police say that the pickup truck drove off at a high speed afterwards. The Honda Civic pulled over to the side of the road.
According to investigators, the driver had been shot and killed. Cpl. Matthew Howell, media relations officer with the RCMP, confirmed that the driver of the Honda Civic was not alone, but could not say anything further about the number of occupants or their age.
The identity of the victim has yet to be revealed, and mounties are still working to identify the suspect vehicle.
The highway was closed for several hours but has since been reopened.
