Five suspects are facing charges after Maskwacis RCMP located a suspect vehicle outside a residence on January 11th. Drug paraphernalia was visible inside the vehicle, leading to the arrest of all occupants.
A search uncovered a loaded 12-gage shotgun, 48.5 grams of methamphetamine, and additional weapons including knives, batons, and bear spray.
As a result of the investigation, Charlene Bliss Green, 41, was charged with flight from police, dangerous driving, possession of property obtained by crime, nine counts of failing to comply with release conditions, three weapons offences, and possession of a controlled substance.
Billy Clay Green, 45, and Terrisa Ermineskin, 32, were each charged with multiple weapons offences, possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of failing to comply with release conditions.
All three were remanded into custody and will appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin at a later date.
Michael Gregory Troy Omeansoo, 35, and Teisha Faith Crier, 29, were charged with three weapons offences and possession of a controlled substance. Both were released after a court appearance and are scheduled to return to court on Feb. 5, in Wetaskiwin.
Insp. Richard McKay, commander of Maskwacis RCMP, said gun-related crime continues to affect the Maskwacis area, with dozens of illegal firearms taken off the streets over the past year. He said officers remain focused on disrupting the flow of both weapons and drugs into the community.
“Firearms continue to be a serious concern in our Maskwacis community,” said McKay. “Last year Maskwacis RCMP seized over 87 crime guns. Our commitment to taking these dangerous weapons along with drugs remains our top priority.”
