West Edmonton Mall is honoring the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation at the Center Stage, running today from 1 -4 P.M and tomorrow from 1 – 5 P.M. Visitors can experience the vibrant cultures of Indigenous communities, featuring Pow Wow dancers, drummers, Metis and hoop dancers, as well as an artisan market.
Tracy Boucher of TB Crafting spoke with CFWE as one of the participating artisans, saying that it’s an incredible experience to be part of an event that recognizes the importance of the day.

“Knowledge is power,” Boucher says, emphasizing the importance of learning about the Residential School system and understanding the lasting impact these tragedies have had on Indigenous communities.

Boucher hopes attendees will leave with a deeper appreciation of the care and resilience within Indigenous and First Nation communities. She also highlights that her daughter designed the shirts she is selling, with all proceeds going towards the ‘Orange Shirt Society’.
