Starting this week, Albertans will start rolling up their sleeves as the province’s annual flu immunization program kicks off.
On October 1st, Alberta will begin offering free flu shots to vulnerable populations — including seniors living in long-term care, people 65 and older receiving the Alberta Seniors Benefit, health-care workers, people who are homeless, people receiving home care and anyone six months of age or older with underlying medical or immunocompromising conditions.
Everyone else aged six months and older in Alberta can start getting their flu shots on October 20.
AHS said it takes two weeks for that protection to take hold after getting the shot.

Vaccine will also be available through some physicians and pharmacies beginning mid-October.
