The wildfire danger remains high to very high across the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.
According to Alberta Wildfire, there are three active fires are burning in the Fort McMurray Forest Area, all under control and posing no threat to communities. Since January 1, 58 fires have burned more than 79,000 hectares.
A fire advisory is in effect, with new permits issued only for essential burning. Campfires are allowed in designated areas.
In the Lac La Biche Forest Area, which includes Janvier and Conklin, 15 wildfires are active. One remains out of control and another is being held. More than 79,000 hectares have burned there this season.
As of September 5th, there were 48 wildfires burning in Alberta with 2 considered out of control.
