RCMP in Northern Alberta are investigating a case of food tampering at a local school.
According to Mounties, on April 17, Fort Chipewyan RCMP responded to a complaint at the Athabasca Delta Community School. There had been a bake sale at the school and it had been suggested that someone may have laced a batch of frosted cupcakes with drugs, specifically cannabis.
As a safety precaution, staff at ADCS removed all the suspected tampered food and turned it over to RCMP. No children or staff were harmed as a result of the cupcakes.
Fort Chipewyan RCMP sent the cupcakes to the Health Canada Cannabis Laboratory for testing.
On Aug. 23, 2025 RCMP were advised that the tests were completed and the cupcakes were found to contain no substances related to cannabis.
