Lac Ste. Anne County is moving forward with construction of a currently undeveloped portion of Township Road 540, south of Alberta Beach and Onoway. The Alberta government approved a Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program grant of $935,000 for the project, according to LSAC.
“We appreciate the provincial government’s recognition of our local infrastructure needs, and we’re committed to ensuring we use it wisely,” LSAC Reeve Joe Blakeman said in a statement.
Blakeman said that while the STIP funds will ensure LSAC is ready for the project, the development won’t be “rushed.”
The funds will go to constructing Township Road 540 between range roads 31 and 32, with LSAC stating the project is only “in the preliminary planning phase.” LSAC has not yet received engineering assessments and doesn’t yet have an estimated cost, according to a county release.
LSAC communications credited Transportation Minister Devin Dreeshen and Shane Getson, Lac Ste. Anne–Parkland MLA, with supporting rural infrastructure.
