The Horse Warriors series captures the excitement, competition, as well as the behind-the-scenes of three teams as they prepare and compete in indigenous relay—known as one of the most extreme sports across Turtle Island. Watch as they race into the biggest and most prestigious relay races, including the Calgary Stampede and Enoch Gold Cup! Season two will feature some of the finest indigenous relay teams competing on Turtle Island! Here is a list;
- Two Medicine Relay from Browning, Montana
- Poitras Relay from the Saulteaux First Nation in Saskatchewan
- River Cree Relay from Enoch Cree Nation in Alberta (also in Season 1)
Indigenous Relay is one of the most unpredictable and exciting sports. Working with horses in such an unpredictable sport can bring accomplishment or heartbreak. Jesse Carlson, who races for the Two Medicine Relay from Browning, Montana, is one of the biggest stories in the relay world. After his brother Cody, a championship rider, was injured, Jesse stepped up and learned the sport to compete. Watch as Jesse and the team compete for all kinds of championships!
The first episode of the 13-part series will broadcast nationally on Sept. 4th, 2025, continuing Thursdays at 10:00 p.m. ET, 8:00 p.m. MT It will also be available for streaming on the network’s streaming platform, ATPN Lumi.
“This year, the talent level of our teams is incredible. They’re challenging for the championship at almost every event, and the competition is heated,” said the Horse Warriors writer and director, Neil Grahn.
