Did you know a child’s screen time can affect their day-to-day life, then possibly direct their adulthood? Parents often worry about doing the best for their child, for example, the effects of screen time on their children. While screens can provide educational tools and entertainment, too much use can downgrade their quality and ability to navigate life.
The negative effects can be a cause for many issues like physical health, mental health, and even suppress a fulfilling social life.
Excessive screen time can lead to obesity, attention problems, and aggressive behavior from exposure to violent content. It can disrupt sleep, create behavioral issues, hinder academic performance, and increase anxiety and depression, especially through social media. Although it is true that screen time isn’t bad in moderation, the key is the purpose (educational vs. entertainment) and whether it takes time away from other important activities and crucial learning opportunities.
Not all screen time is equal; educational use is beneficial, while excessive entertainment use can lead to negative effects.
So, make sure to take the proper steps towards getting the right amount of screen time depending on age and individual needs.
