Moss Pit
The Joey Moss School in south Edmonton was roaring with excitement today, as students and staff came together for a spirited pep rally in honour of the Edmonton Oilers ahead of tonight’s Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Named after beloved Oilers icon Joey Moss, the school hosted its own scaled-down version of the renowned “Moss Pit,” located just outside Rogers Place. Dozens of young fans gathered in the gym, waving team banners, cheering on the players, and soaking up the high-energy atmosphere.
Joey Moss rose from locker-room attendant to beloved Edmonton legend, earning the respect and admiration of players and fans alike with his infectious spirit and dedication Though he passed away in October 2020, his memory lives on: Edmonton Public Schools named their new Keswick-area elementary after him in 2021, and the Oilers continue to honour him by playing his favourite song, La Bamba, after victories
