
The City of St. Albert is now inviting applications for the prestigious Young Artists Legacy Award, a program designed to recognize and celebrate the talent and creativity of emerging local artists. With a focus on supporting the next generation of artists, the award aims to provide financial assistance and mentorship opportunities, helping young individuals further their artistic careers and contribute to the city’s vibrant cultural landscape. The maximum amount of funding per individual is $500 and per group is $1,000.
Kathleen Bell, Community Cultural Coordinator with the City of St. Albert, spoke with CFWE about her excitement on the awards and the 14 years of helping aspiring artists get towards their goals in getting connected with workshops and classes.

Bell adds that they would love to see more Indigenous youth to apply for the grant to be elevated and excel in the artistry and cultural practices.

To be eligible, an individual must be aged 13-21, must have a permanent residence in St. Albert and must wish to pursue a career in the arts. A youth group, with most group members having permanent residence in St. Albert may also be eligible. Previous grant winners may not apply for the next year’s intake of grants. All applicants are required to submit a final report, including an expenditure report within 60 days of their project completion.
