The small town fire hall responsible for a large rural area and busy Alberta highway has been robbed of essential life-saving equipment.
On Sunday evening, RCMP said the Lac Ste. Anne County fire hall in Sangudo had been broken into. The theft was discovered when firefighters got to the station just after midnight, and found several items missing.
The fire hall is one of seven in Lac Ste. Anne County near Highway 43.
RCMP said on Tuesday that the fire hall is still tallying the stolen items, but some items include:
- Hydraulic pump hoses
- Forestry power saws
- Ventilation power saws
- Generator
- Various tools meant for forcible entry into vehicles and houses
- Medical trauma kit
- Chainsaws
- Mechanical hand tools
- All of the hand tools from the workbenches
- Laptops
- Drone
Despite the robbery, the fire hall is reassuring residents that there will be no impact on services.
RCMP believe the theft would have happened between 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, and 12:30 a.m. on Monday.
Officers are asking the public to help by checking their surveillance cameras for anything suspicious.
