Indigenous students in Alberta have the opportunity to apply for the Alberta Blue Cross scholarship, which closes Jan. 31.
The Alberta Blue Cross Indigenous scholarship program offers nine scholarships of $1500 every year. The selection criteria is based on personal goals, community involvement and financial need.
To improve accessibility to students, it’s now available in any year of study. Previously, three scholarships were offered to first year students having graduated high school and another six to mature students in their first year. Now, the scholarship is available while students attend an accredited post-secondary institution.
The goal of this scholarship is to support financial and overall community wellbeing, and to improve access to post-secondary education for Indigenous students.
Over 100 scholarships have been awarded during the program’s 25 year history.
Applications must be submitted by January 31. You can apply here.
Awards are selected by an external committee with experience in academia and Indigenous education.
Successful students with the scholarship will be contacted in March.
