Edmonton firefighters spent their Sunday night rescuing a person trapped inside the Talus Dome installation in the River Valley.
According to EFS, a person walking near the statue noticed a man stuck inside and called 9-1-1 shortly before 8:30pm.
Three engines were initially dispatched and arrived minutes later. EFRS technical rescue specialists worked to extricate the person while reducing any damage to the artwork “as much as possible.”
The man was initially climbing the Dome and fell through the top and couldn’t get out. Edmonton Police say the 26 year old damaged the structure while climbing.
He’s since been charged with one count of mischief over $5,000 and released.
