St Paul RCMP have laid murder charges in the killing of a Saddle Lake Cree Nation man.
On January 8, Mounties found 61-year-old Garvin Lloyd Chisan seriously injured at a home on Saddle Lake Cree Nation after they were called there for reports of a stabbing.
Chisan was taken by air ambulance to an Edmonton hospital, but he died later that day.
On Jan. 10, 44-year-old Saddle Lake Cree Nation resident Jeremy Shaun Cardinal was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection to Chisan’s death.
He has been charged with first-degree murder.
Cardinal was brought before a Justice of the Peace and has been remanded into custody.
His next court appearance is scheduled for January 13 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Lac La Biche.
