Rising Above, a faith-based addictions treatment centre, broke ground at its Park Campus in Grande Prairie on January 6.
The new facility will feature a 70-bed capacity, along with expanded services like a classroom, shared spaces for eating and recreation, and more offices for staff.
The building will also see the women’s program move to the facility, as they currently are housed off campus.
While men can access support from staff by just walking down a hall, women have to make a walk of about 20 minutes.
According to Rising above, the organization sees a consistent 400 to 500 applications every year, with an intake of about 100.
The ground breaking marks the beginning of construction on the $5 million four-story building, and will be built on Rising Above’s current property on 106th street.
