Keyano College’s Indigenous Student Centre in Fort McMurray is set to open in March 2025, thanks to a partnership with Pembina Pipeline Corporation. The sponsorship supports the Elder and Auntie In-Residence Office.
The Center will feature a ceremonial area, learning commons, communal kitchen, Indigenous art display, and a dedicated space for the Elder-in-residence program.
The Centre aims to foster inclusivity, a sense of belonging, and celebrate Indigenous culture.
By providing a dedicated space for traditional teaching and learning methods, Keyano College hopes to increase Indigenous student enrollment, improve graduation rates through enhanced support and representation, and offer more educational opportunities for non-Indigenous individuals to deepen their understanding of Indigenous heritage.
