MacEwan University’s Kihêw Waciston is set to present Star Teachings with Knowledge keeper George Desjarlais at Betty Andrews Recital Hall on November 13th. This event offers insights into traditional Indigenous star knowledge and it’s cultural significance.
George Desjarlais, Knowledge Keeper with Kihew Waciston in MacEwan University, spoke with CFWE saying the biggest takeaway for First Nations students is to learn about the traditional teachings the stars provide, and for the non-Indigenous students to see similarities in the teachings from the stars.
Desjarlais speaks on his upcoming Star Teachings event and the stories and teachings he learned from his life experiences at a young age.
Desjarlais says that with this being work, it isn’t work for him at Kihew Waciston, and it allows him to have the opportunity to work with First Nations students and to open minds, along with having the goal of changing one mind through the stories and teachings along the way.
