Edmonton’s airport will be expanding its drone delivery services to include a medical clinic down the Q-E-2.
Earlier this week, the airport showcased the pathway that will sometime be taken over by the new Canary drone. In a detailed routine path, the drone will fly over 10 kilometers from the capital city’s airway to the Montana First Nation’s Akamihk Medical Clinic in Leduc.
The drone can carry packages up to just over 11 pounds in weight.
The goal is to reduce congestion by taking more vehicles off the road, while bringing convenience to communities, including remote areas that might not have access to certain goods without the use of drones.
The Canary drone is not yet in operation. Drone Delivery Canada said it should be in operation within the next week.
