The World Archery Field Championships are underway in Lac La Biche, featuring athletes, coaches, and officials from 28 countries, including France, Israel, Belgium, Denmark, Spain & Norway.
Canada will be represented by 21 archers this year, including 2022 World Champion Dustin Watson (ON), who won in the U21 Compound category and will be seeking to defend his title. It is the largest contingent Canada has fielded to these championships, largely because of its presence in Canada.
This will be the first time Canada has hosted the World Archery Field Championships.
Rene Schaub, president of the hosting club of the Lakeland Archers spoke with CFWE.
Spectators are invited to witness the elimination matches at the Lakeland Archery Range on Thursday and Friday, to be followed by the Team and Individual finals at the Lac La Biche Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.
Lac La Biche is also set to host the Canadian Outdoor Archery Championships in 2025.
