The Canadian Country Music Awards Kickoff took place inside Rogers Place at Ford Hall, to celebrate the return of the Awards after 10 years, with it being the 8th time in Edmonton. Along with a mayoral proclamation of CCMA Week in Edmonton from Mayor Amarjeet Sohi.
Amy Jeninga, CCMA’s President spoke with CFWE and said seeing the Kickoff come to life inside Rogers Place is fantastic, and follows hard work and dedication from many.
Jeninga speaks on the announcement of Edmonton’s own KD Lang being inducted into the CCMA Hall of Fame..
Jeninga goes on to say that this week is all about storytelling and community.
Jeninga speaks on the grand entry performance from Pow Wow Times, saying it was special to see the moving performance by Patrick Mitsuing and the Pow Wow Times crew as a representation of celebration of people, culture and community.
City of Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi spoke with CFWE about his excitement on the City hosting the CCMA’s.
