The Wood Buffalo Crimes Reduction Unit and Police Dog Services were conducting a sweep in Janvier and Chipewyan Prairie First Nation. A male wanted by Police for breach of probation was seen in a residence on Chipewyan Prairie First Nation.
A judicially authorized warrant to enter the residence and arrest the suspect was obtained by Police. Crews subsequently entered the residence and arrested the 31-year-old resident without further incident. During the arrest, Police observed a prohibited weapon in the residence. An additional judicially authorized search warrant was obtained.
Leslie Quintal is facing many charges including:
- Three counts Weapons possession contrary to order
- Possession of a firearm when unauthorized
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Breach of Probation
Quintal was held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing. He was remanded into custody and is set to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice on September 16th.
