An investigation is underway after a body was found inside a burned home in northern Alberta.
On Sept 6 at approximately 12:00pm, Grande Prairie Fire Department responded to a house fire in the Mount View neighborhood. Upon arrival, fire crews encountered a home filled with heavy smoke. Firefighters immediately entered the residence to conduct search and rescue operations.
Tragically, one occupant was found inside the home and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The fire was brought under control, preventing further damage to surrounding properties.
The Grande Prairie Fire Department Fire Investigators are working closely with the RCMP to determine the cause of the fire.
