The Edmonton Elks couldn’t hold a halftime lead in Montreal, losing their 8th game of the season 21-17.
Cody Fajardo, wide receiver Cole Spieker and an unwavering Alouettes defence led a second-half comeback as league-leading Montreal defeated Edmonton 21-17 in nail-biting fashion for its fifth straight victory.
Elks QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson went 21-for-33 for 200 yards and two TD passes in his second consecutive start as Edmonton’s (3-8) three-game win streak came to an end.
Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Jarious Jackson spoke to media following the loss mentioning his team needs to execute better in the second half of games.
Running back Kevin Brown filled in for Javon Leake and had a great start, rushing for 105 yards on 16 carries, Brown spoke on the Elks ability to always establish the run game over the last four games.
Up next for the Edmonton Elks (3-8) will be a matchup against the Calgary Stampeders (4-6) in Calgary on Monday September 2nd for the Labor Day Classic.
