Police in the Chipewyan Prairie First Nation have accused a man of breaking into a home and starting fires, after nearby wildfires caused the First Nation to prompt an evacaution.
Wood Buffalo RCMP said shortly after 9 p.m. on Friday, officer patrolling Chipewyan Prairie First Nation were told that a break and enter at a house was underway.
Local firefighters were extinguishing a fire when officers arrive to the home. The suspect had left but was found at a nearby construction site. Police arrested the man without incident.
Timothy Justin Herman, 41, has been charged with two counts of break and entering, arson and breaching probation. He is in custody and will make his appearance in court of Monday at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray.
