A 38-year-old man is facing charges related to an arson that occurred in 2023.
On October, 24, 2023 at approximately 4 a.m., it is alleged that the man entered the WSP building at 10909 Jasper Avenue NW, the location of the Zebra Centre, by throwing a rock through the lobby window and entering the premises.
Once inside, the accused reportedly made his way to the 13th floor via the stairwells to a storage area where amongst other things, boxes of stuffed animal toys, belonging to the Zebra Centre were stored. The accused then used an open flame to set fire to the toys, before leaving the building.
At the time of the fire, there were also numerous people inside the building, including some on the 13th floor.
Adam Christopher Neapetung, 38, of Edmonton, has been charged with arson and disregard for human life, break and enter and breach of probation.
The accused was previously remanded on other charges and is now also facing three additional charges in connection to the Zebra Centre arson.
The Zebra Centre is a not-for-profit that supports abused children.
