On Thursday night two women attempted to abduct a 12-year-old boy in the southeast neighbourhood of Mill Woods.
The two women who tried to abduct the 12-year-old boy approached him at 7:20 p.m. in a cargo van travelling eastbound on 38th Avenue and 55th Street while he was walking home.
A woman who emerged from the vehicle told the boy to “get in”. She is described as a white woman in her early 30s with a medium build and shoulder-length brown hair. The ages of the two women have not been specified.
The police describe the van as a black or dark grey, tall “Amazon” style or sprinter-like cargo van. The 12-year-old boy was able to escape and run home, and the incident was reported to the police.
The investigation is currently ongoing. Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the reported area to come forward, as well as anyone who has seen a vehicle that matches the description to report it to the police.
The van was reportedly occupied by two females, one of whom got out of the van and told the youth to get in. The youth fled home, and the incident was reported to police. – Edmonton Police Service
