Several Indigenous Organizations were provided a provincial grant aimed to ensuring safer futures for Indigenous women and Two-Spirited People through the Community Support Fund.
Windspeaker Radio Network spoke with Minister of Indigenous Relations Rick Wilson, as he speaks on the second year running the Community Support Fund, with 4 Million Dollars approved to be spread out to be granted to applicants such as the Pow Wow Times and the Mountain Rose Women’s Shelter Association to aid in programs like healing circles, mentorship connections, peer support networks, job skills training and financial literacy program.
Minister Wilson says this is funding is an opportunity to create safer futures for Indigenous Women and Two-Spirted People, within areas like health care and the courts to make life better for everyone.
The Organizations that received the Community Support fund and the positive impacts like the Mistatim Group in Spruce Grove as they work with Women and Two-Spirited People using Horse Therepy, Minister Wilson says the it’s emotional to see the grants making a positive impact on many lives.
