A wildfire burning near Fort McMurray has grown to 6,575 hectares, and lies about 16 km southwest of the City, on the southern edge of the Athabasca River valley.
Last night, Night vision equipped helicopters continued to work to drop water on the fire with buckets.
In an update this morning, Alberta Wildfire said that heavy equipment is continuing to work to establish a fire guard on the northeast side. Six crews of firefighters are working on establishing a containment line with the support of 13 helicopters.
Structural protection precautions have been completed in Rickards Landing. Gregoire Lake Estates and Fort McMurray 468 First Nation will also receive structural protection measures as a precaution.

- Fort McMurray
- Saprae Creek
- Anzac
- Fort McMurray First Nation #468
- Gregoire Lake Estates
- Rickards Landing Industrial Park
