Charges have been laid against four people in connection to an alleged at gunpoint car-jacking in Ponoka.
On May 9th at around 5am, Ponoka RCMP received a report of a vehicle stolen at gunpoint from outside a home on 55 Street.Information was passed on to neighboring detachments and agencies.
Then, just after 1 p.m., Maskwacis RCMP received a report of a vehicle being sighted in that municipality.
RCMP located the vehicle on the Samson townsite and began observing it with an unmarked vehicle.Once outside the townsite, police attempted to stop the vehicle, and a short pursuit ensued with police observing the occupant tossing items out the window, including, allegedly, a loaded SKS rifle.
The vehicle was disabled near Township Road 432 and Range Road 241, and all four occupants were arrested.
22 year old Matthew Moonias of Louis Bull First Nation was also charged with multiple weapons offences.
24 year old Jasmine Soosay of Maskwacis, was charged with three weapons offences. She was released on conditions to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin on May 23, 2024.
21 year old Ashantay Moonias of Maskwacis, was also charged with three weapons offences. She was released on conditions to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin on June 4, 2024.
