The Edmonton Oilers couldn’t find their groove Thursday night with a 4-2 loss on the road in Columbus.
The loss gives Edmonton a 38-21-2 record on the season, good for 2nd in the Pacific Division, behind the Vancouver Canucks for the top spot.
Connor McDavid got his 100th point of the season and extended his 100 point plateau to four seasons in a row. Zach Hyman also found the back of the net for his 43rd of the season, giving the winger a chance to hit 50 goals for the first time in his career.
Head coach Kris Knoblauch stated the Oilers sluggish start was too much of a hole to get out of.
McDavid became the sixth player in league history with at least seven 100 point seasons and extended his point streak to 13 games.
This marks the first game with new players for the Oil, including forward Adam Henrique who’s just hoping to make an impact since joining the team from Anaheim.
Up next for the Oilers will be a Saturday morning matinee against the Sabers in Buffalo.
