The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section charged a 19-year-old in relation to the death of a male that occurred earlier this week.
On Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Northeast Branch patrol officers responded to a residence in the area of 147 Avenue and 77 Street to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival police located a 38-year-old male in medical distress and rendered first aid until EMS arrived on scene. Paramedics attended and treated the male, but he was declared deceased on scene.
Today, Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, an autopsy completed by the Edmonton Medical Examiner determined that Ryan Lariviere, 38, died as the result of a gunshot wound. The manner of death is homicide.
Muktar Mohammed-Ali, 19, has since been charged with second degree murder and pointing a firearm.
Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate as it is believed that additional suspects were involved in this homicide.
