A crash between two semis caused a fuel spill on Tuesday evening, closing a portion of Highway 16 in Yellowhead County.
A fracking truck and another hauling two fuel tanks collided in a parking lot at Niton Junction just after 7 p.m.
The county’s Fire Chief and General Manager of Protective Services called the situation “absolutely” potentially dangerous.
Emergency crews and police evacuated the area, and also closed Highway 16 from Nojack to Highway 32, due to vapors traveling across the highway.
Highway 16 reopened around 11:30 p.m., but commuters could expect some workers to be present Wednesday morning.
No one was hurt in the incident.
