With winter weather on the horizon, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is calling on community members to step up and make a difference through its Snow Angels program.
The initiative connects volunteers with seniors and Fort McMurray residents facing mobility challenges, ensuring their driveways and walkways stay clear of snow and ice when the flakes start falling.
How It Works
- Flexible Participation: You can sign up solo or team up with family, friends, coworkers, or local community groups.
- Neighborhood Matching: The municipality strives to pair volunteers with households in their preferred areas whenever possible.
- Timely Shoveling: Helpers are asked to clear assigned properties as quickly as possible following a snowfall, with a completion window of up to 48 hours.
Beyond just clearing snow, the program plays a vital role in the community. By keeping pathways open, volunteers help vulnerable residents maintain their independence and safely leave their homes for essential appointments, groceries, and errands.

Whether you are looking to give back or need a helping hand this season, participation is simple:
